PETALING JAYA: Ministries must answer for the instances of mismanagement disclosed in the Auditor-General’s Report, the deputy prime minister said.

The report highlighted several cases of the misuse of public funds, including the payment of RM224 for a set of four screwdrivers costing about RM40 in the market.

The report said the government paid RM8.39 million more than the market price in 2002 for the purchase of 13 items for the National Youth Skills Institutes programme. These included technical books consisting of 10 titles priced at RM10,700 and a 3.1 megapixel digital camera that was bought for RM8,254.

Najib also said ministry secretaries-general had no authority to approve funds for direct negotiation tenders because these projects had to go through and were decided by the Finance Ministry.

Earlier, the deputy prime minister gave away prizes to the winners of the golf tournament.

The Business Times Golf Invitation is an annual event, started in 2001, aimed at fostering rapport between newspapers and corporate leaders.

The first prize winner, Nor Saiful Zaini Nasiruddin, walked away with a Nokia 6300 handphone; second-placed Datuk Vincent Lee won a Fuji Xerox DocuPrint 204A printer; and third-placed Mohd Aref Mohd Ali received a Nokia 250 handphone.

mcm biasa.. wa start kayuh dari rumah. keluar kul 7.30 & jumpa Dicky kat simpang nak masuk ke Ulu Langat area pekan Batu 9.

kengkawan yg lain tunggu kat pekan Batu 14. ramai ari ni.. dekat 20 orang. superstar Kim pun ada. tapi 10 orang aje yg buat Broga Classic. Kim pun tak mau ikut sampai habis.. half way pastu pusing balik.

10 orang ni terdiri dari 7 lelaki & 3 pempuan. wa ingat bila ada pempuan boleh gak me-neutral-kan pace mamat2 yg lelaju tu. hampehhh… rupa2 nya pempuan ni yg laju. LAJU GILA hahaha.. silap orang daaa..

dari Batu 14 > Batu 18 > Tekala > Semenyih > Broga, pace laju nak mampus.. tak larat wa nak ikut. dekat 40km/h.. dia org tak tahu ke jauh lagi perjalanan :p sampai Broga baru +/-50km.

masa last climb kat belakang Peres.. 1st group sampai puncak Adzim, Andrea, Jasmine & Emily hahaha.. semua pempuan sampai dulu.

2nd group Bacin, Arif & Alex.. pastu Dicky sampai sesorang hihi.. hampir kantoi. pastu kawan Adzim.. lupa lak nama dia. last Jeff.. sekali dia tumpang truck orang daaa.. yg ni kantoi habis.

kali ni tak ada stop for heavy lunch. kita orang stop 1st kat pekan Broga utk makan buah & refill air about 20min. 2nd kat simpang nak panjat ke Jeram Toi for about 5min.. refill air aje.  3rd stop kat Petronas Kuala Klawang about 20min for refill pastu makan roti. last stop dah nak sampai pekan Batu 18, sebab semua dah habis air – cuaca panasss..

wa sampai rumah tepat kul 4.00pm.. penat tapi puasss..
